Bo Anderson ’18
Congratulations to our Athletes of the Month for October: Taylor Stenz and Aidan Donoho! These athletes were voted for by their captains and the members of the Athletics’ Board for their stellar abilities and achievements.
Now, let’s see why these athletes were chosen…
Taylor Stenz – Field Hockey – Outside Midfielder
Taylor Stenz’s sensational performance over the month of October has led the Field Hockey team to an outstanding end to the regular season. She may be a quiet leader, but she lets the hockey stick do the talking as she has scored goals against Archmere, St. Andrews, and Friends. Captain Isabelle Pilson noted that “at practice her hard drives, great receptions, smooth inserts, and work ethic has made their drills successful and has helped them prepare for their coming games.” Watch out for Taylor Stenz and the Tower Hill Field Hockey team in the State Tournament over the next couple of weeks.
Words from head Field Hockey coach, Coach Adair:
“Taylor has been an amazing asset to this year’s team. She works and plays hard every day and she is extremely versatile. She has helped us in various positions and roles. As a midfielder she gets back and plays good defense as well as coming all the way up to help the attack and herself score goals. Taylor is very coachable and works well with everyone around her. It has been great seeing her be so successful this year and she has been wonderful to work with.”
Aidan Donoho – Soccer – Midfielder
As one of the stars on the soccer team, Aidan Donoho has displayed consistent and impactful leadership throughout the month of October. While staying positive, showing good sportsmanship, and always working hard, Aidan continues to get better each day. Captain Malcolm Johnson noted that “If everyone on the team shared Aidan’s general attitude toward games and practices, the soccer team could have much success this season.” As the soccer team makes their way into the state tournament; look out for them and Aidan Donoho over the next couple of weeks and witness first-hand his exceptional soccer skills.
Words from head Soccer coach, Coach Aitken:
“Aidan Donoho has been a two year starter for our Tower Hill soccer team. He was a defender and outside midfielder for our State Championship last year, and this year we moved him into the central midfield to help control the pace of play. He has done such a remarkable job this season as he was able to link our defensive unit with our strikers. Aidan is passionate about soccer, and he is someone who is very coachable. This year Aidan scored a big goal against Sanford that sparked a 3-0 win on our senior day. On the field, Aidan plays with poise and passion. His character is reflected in his great sportsmanship, and we are very fortunate to have him part of our Tower Hill soccer ‘family.’ We are looking for big things out of Aidan over the next two years as he will be emerging as a leader of this program. We can only hope that he continues to work hard.”
