It Was Time To Go

On July 8, 2014, I began my journey to Israel.  It was time.  Time to get away from constant questions of, “Have you finished your summer reading?” and “Have you done any SAT prep?”  Time for a break from my siblings.  Time to meet the people on my B’nai Brit Youth Organization trip, or BBYO. Time to fulfill those service hours. Time to get to know my roots on a whole new level. Would I finally be able to counter those who had said we should divest in Israel, or that Israelis were as evil as white South Africans?

Student Diversity Leadership Conference

For over a decade, Tower Hill has been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to be a part of the People of Color Conference (PoCC) and the Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC) that takes place every year in locations across the country. This year, Tower Hill sent six Upper School students, Brooke Hayman (2015), Drue Schwartz (2015), Nasir Wilson (2015), Brandon Nitsche (2016), Spencer Johnson (2016) and myself, Blair Isken (2016), to Indianapolis; there were another 1620 students from independent schools across the United States.
