In keeping with the holiday spirit, a week after the choral concert the Tower Hill Upper School Vocal Ensemble traveled to the WILM radio station to sing on air. Mrs. Zerrin Martin, Upper and Middle School Choral director, was invited to bring the group of chorus members selected to join VE to sing for the station earlier this year for the first time. This year Vocal Ensemble consists of Katherine Ianni, Anne Grae Martin, Zach Rosen, Julia Lindsay, Rodney Orr, Michelle Amorison, Cory Menden, Henry Mette, Whitney Polich, and Sara Brown. The group sang songs from their first semester repertoire, including “Oj Koledo”, “Deck the Halls in 7/8”, and “In the Bleak Midwinter.” After singing live on air, they also visited Stonegate and Cokesbury Village retirement home to carol for the members.

Rodney Orr recounts the trip below:

“The trip for vocal ensemble to both WILM radio station and to carol for the elderly was a fun and rewarding experience. Singing on the radio was new and we got to learn a little bit about how the station runs on air. I was surprisingly not worried about our performance and we did a great job! Singing at the retirement homes was amazing. We got to sing for a woman who was 110 years old; she was still strong and funny at her age! We also met a few Tower Hill alumni including former teachers, students, and parents/grandparents of students we knew. It was an amazing time and I can’t wait to do it next year!”
